Star Wars Battlefront 2 Confirmed

EA are set to release a sequel to Star Wars Battlefront by March 2017. The new game will feature what we already know and love about Battlefront and will add characters and settings “from the new movies.”

With very few details as of now all we know is what EA’s CFO Blake Jorgenson recently divulged during EA’s latest financial report. Jorgenson told us that the new game will feature “bigger and better worlds because we now have the new movies to work off of, not just the historical movies that we used before.”

Jorgenson also gave us some information on EA’s other upcoming Star Wars games. Both Respawn and Visceral (with support from Jade Raymond’s Motive studio) will be creating their own third-person adventure. “We’ll most likely have at least one Star Wars title a year over the next three to four years,” he said.

“We also are working on a Star Wars action game that part of the Motive team is working on as well as the Visceral team, and that’s most likely the following year. And as we’ve announced we’re working with our partners Respawn to work on another Star Wars game. They’re very excited about that. They were asking us to include them in the franchise and we felt that they could add a huge amount to a new title there.”

This news comes as no surprise as Star Wars Battlefront surpassed EA’s expectations and has sold over 14 million copies. With EA releasing one game a year will it become too much and the fans will lose interest? Or is this the start of a new era for Star Wars gaming?
